I can't believe how things are just getting away from me! I keep waiting for things to settle down, but it's just not happening!
Our Australian exchange student, Sam, has been here with us since Friday night. So far, things are going great. He and Clinton seem to get along well together and they share many similar interests. Over the long weekend they hit the mall, music store, lazer tag, The Mesa Southwest Museum and a basketball game. He also went to church with us on Sunday. I think he about died when he found out Church was 3 hours, but he survived well enough!
We also drug him along with us to a family party on Saturday night. My cousin was having a surprise party for her parents and it turned out to be really fun! They had hired a hypnotist to come entertain after dinner, and he was SO great! Much to my surprise, both Clinton and Dave were among the 10 or so who volunteered to be hypnotized. Dave never went under and ended up coming back to his seat, but Clinton went WAY under! It was SO FUNNY! He was among 3 other guys who were able to go under, and they all were hilarious! Traveling to the moon, loosing thier belly buttons, their butts falling off, ballet dancing, speaking moon talk....everyone was totally cracking up! Afterward, Clinton said that he remembered doing it, but it was kind of like remembering a dream. Totally hysterical!
This every day this week, there are tours planned for all the exchange kids while our kids are in school, so he is keeping pretty busy. I hope he is having a good time and that he doesn't think that we're too boring! LOL We just aren't that exciting.
I just found out today that withing the next month, we will be getting new carpet throughout our home AND our family room (18 ft ceilings, in case you thought we could do it ourselves!), up the stairs, and upstairs hall will be painted. WOO HOOO! I need to schedule the painter to come by probably next week so the paint will be "cured" by the time the carpet guys get here. They will be ripping up all the ceramic tile in our family room...messy! I'm so excited! Our carpet is SO old...and SO blue. It really should have been replaced before we moved in...6 years ago! You can imagine how awful it looks now! I've got to go get some paint chips and start deciding on color. It's going to be a big chore getting everything moved out of the rooms and stuff...but It will be so wonderful when it's done! I'll post our progress and then maybe some before and after pics!
I have not been a very patient mom with The Bear this week. I have just really had it! I need a break! Good thing Saturday is Girls Night Out!
