Salsa Day!

Saturday was Salsa Day. I got together with my Sister In Law and nieces and we canned a huge batch of the spicy stuff. We started out with 100 lbs of tomatos, 50 lbs of onions, 40 lbs of green chilis, 20 lbs of jalapenos and various other goo. We ended up with....

105 Bottles of Tasty Salsa!!!!! GO US!!

Come on...you have to be impressed by our show of domesticity!

Yeah...my hands still smell like onions, but it was totally worth it!

Jill -

I learned an onion smell secret from a friend who worked in food service. If your sink or faucet is stainless steel, rub your hands on it before washing them. I usually grab the faucet and rub my hands up and down (yeah, it looks a little obscene, lol), lather up, rub some more, then rinse hands and faucet. Works every time (also cleans the faucet)! That's basically the trick of the onion "stones" you can find in specialty stores, they're stainless steel too.
