Friday night was the first High School football game of the season. Normally, that would not be a big thing, but this year, Clinton is playing in the drumline for the band and we really wanted to go hear them play. His school was selected to play in the "Kick Off Classic" against one of the best teams in the valley. They played at ASU stadium under the lights, with a Big Screen showing all the action and slow motion playbacks. I think it was really fun for them, they could make an outstanding tackle and then look up at the screen to see instant gratification for their efforts. And the game was televised tool...how cool is that! The band did a great job too, playing all those classic stand tunes for the cheerleaders to dance to. There was a great turnout that included many painted up guys running around with their underwear haning out of the top of their pants. (Seriously...what's the deal with kids and showing their underwear!)
Here's the thing...it was HOT! We were sitting there in the stands with sweat running down our faces, and it was dark out. Can you imagine how it would be in daylight?? Or how those poor football players felt running around? Back in the day, when I went to my high school games, it meant putting on a sweatshirt for those brisk evenings. Not handing out fans as people walked in.
We stayed until the 3rd quarter, then couldn't take it anymore. Clinton came home completely exhausted! Good thing he's young!
