The Bear got his casts of on Tuesday! A whole 2 weeks before we thought we'd be done. Right after they took them off, the took a mold of his legs to make the braces from, telling us they would be ready on Friday. Then came the fateful words...
" Until he gets the braces, you must keep him from running, jumping or climbing. Basically, he needs to sit with small spurts of slow walking."
This has to be done, because his ankles are so weak from being in casts so long, too much "exercise" will make them swell up and the braces won't fit. Ok...I get it. But, how do you get a five year old to "sit" and "just walk"??? Not to mention, said five year old, who managed to do all the above in 2 casts for 5 weeks and now feels so good to have them off that he wants to run everywhere?
Yeah...we're having struggles!
