The Little Gymnast

Today was The Bears first trial lesson over at The Little Gym. His therapist has suggested that it might be a good thing for him to help him stretch and loosen up his tight muscles a bit and to help with his balance and coordination. Why is it that I never have my video camera when I need it?? The class only had one other little girl in it who was also there for her free trial. When the class first starts, they have "circle time" and sing the opening song. Kayden was way too excited to sit! He ran around and twirled in a clunkish, boy way, pausing now and then to do an impressive body slam on the soft mats! The teacher did her best to get his attention, but to no avail!

Once they started the somersaults on the slanted pad, he was all over it. For the rest of the class, he would run over to the mat in between stations and do LOTS of "front rolls". He did settle down after awhile and did the balance beam and flips on the bar. He would clap for himself after each event and then run over to the window we were sitting by, so we could clap for him too! So Cute!

Afterward, The Bear said that that was the most fun thing to do ever! Of course, we signed him up for 10 more classes. I'm sure there will be more to come on our little tumbler!

On a different note, we had our meeting with CRS today, over at St. Josephs Hospital. Kayden was approved for full coverage of all things pertaining to his problems. They will cover the casting, braces, all tests, all future therapy sessions, and even surgery if we find out we need it! This is a HUGE blessing to us! He will also see a genetic/metobolic specialist within the coming weeks! HOORAY! Maybe we will finally get a solid diagnosis on the problems and get things taken care of!

He was so funny. The music would yell "FREEZE" and the teacher and the little girl would freeze, but the Bear would be spinning or flopping around in his own little world.

He steam-rolled the teacher at one point. She was laying back on the mat getting ready to show them an excercise, and he came cruising around and mowed right over her.

I agree that this will be very beneficial for him, and the news about the insurance was the best thing I had heard in a long time. We have racked up some serious doctor bills with the Bear. This coverage is quite literally a Godsend.

I'm just SO GLAD to hear about the insurance coverage, and that things are now going to move forward.

You two are such DEVOTED parents; that little guy is so blessed.

Please keep us posted. :)

Hey I work at The Little Gym. I think it's a great place for kids who are seeing OT's. Before I started working there, I took my daughter. She sees an OT for some sensory issues and to strengthen her trunk and The Little Gym has really helped. I'm glad he has a positive experience there.
